• Open-trench: Sewer line repairs are typically performed using the “open cut” or “open-trench” method to gain access to the area surrounding the damaged portion of the pipe. A backhoe may be used to open and refill the work area. This is the District’s preferred method of repair or replacement. Typical cost (35 – 40 ft) $4,000 – $15,000

• Trenchless – This technology is less invasive and usually offers a more cost effective approach to a private sewer lateral repair. The District will accept, but not provide courtesy cleaning service to private sewer laterals rehabilitated with trenchless methods. This is because our cleaning tools may damage your new pipe. Typical cost (35 – 40 ft) $3,000 – $11,000.

• Pipe-Bursting – is a trenchless method of replacing buried sewer pipes without the need for a traditional construction trench. The old pipe is bursted and expanded with a pipe bursting head and a new pipe is pulled through from a pit at the beginning of the sewer line to a pit connecting at the District’s sewer main.

• Cured-In-Place Pipe– A resin-saturated tube is inverted or pulled into a damaged pipe and then heated to cure the resin and form a tight fitting, joint less replacement pipe. Little to no digging is involved in this trenchless process. However cured in place lining is used, it will reduce the inside diameter of the pipe.
